Job Description
The Senior Biostatistician acts as a knowledge leader, and as part of a team conducting independent research projects funded by external sponsors in areas which are consistent with the mission and goals of Essentia Institute of Rural Health (EIRH). Uses knowledge of mathematics, science and statistics to research critical queries in health care and public health. Provides expertise to identify the best process to collect data given the research goals; designs, evaluates and implements advanced statistical models; and contributes extensively to the synthesis and reporting of findings, including scientific presentations and manuscripts . Participates in teaching and development activities for other EIRH staff as well as multiple other audiences. Position requires high level of interpersonal skills to establish and enhance positive relationships with grantor agencies, external researchers, co-workers, patients, and others.
QUALIFICATIONS (minimum requirements)
Education and/or years experience required:
- Ph.D. in statistics, biostatistics, or a closely related field.
- Minimum of five years relevant research experience with progressive levels of responsibility in the creation and design of clinical studies, and a record of external funding, publications in peer-reviewed journals and presentations at scientific meetings.
- Experience with major statistical software packages is essential, as is a record of independent research.
