Human Research Protection Program (HRPP)
The Human Research Protections Program’s mission is to protect the rights and welfare of participants involved in human research conducted at Essentia Health. The HRPP is a collaboration of offices and departments throughout our institution.
Institutional Review Board (IRB)
As part of the HRPP, the Essentia Health IRB is charged with the responsibility to review all proposed research in order to ensure that the rights of research participants are protected and that the risk of harm to participants is minimized.
The IRB is independent and does not report to any department or individuals that rely on the IRB review of their research.
Essentia Health interacts with Quorum IRB and has a dedicated Quorum liaison. Quorum IRB is an option for sponsored protocols. The IRB office at Essentia plays an active role in tracking Quorum-approved protocols, reviewing event reports, and addressing any local concerns.
A new “Research Privacy” training is available to all researchers at Essentia Health. If you missed your group training session, please contact the HRPP Office to request individual training.
