Many professionals may be involved in federally funded projects, such as physicians, scientists, nurses and research assistants. These professionals are required to share with Essentia Health any significant financial interest they may have. Any time a significant financial interest is shared, it is reviewed by Essentia Health. If we believe there is a chance that the financial interest may affect the project, it is then called a financial conflict of interest (FCOI). A plan to manage the FCOI is put into place.
If an FCOI is identified for a federally funded study, the information is available on this publicly accessible web site in the Financial Interests table. It will also be reported to the federal funding agency as required. The web site will be updated once a year and within sixty (60) days of the identification of a new FCOI. The information will stay on the web site for at least three (3) years from the last update.
